Departure from your hotel to the “Historic Muscat”, the ancient and tiny capital enclosed in its cliffs of black rocks. Visit of the Mutrah Fort, a unique point of view that requires climbing a few steps...from where one can admire the sea, the cornice, the fish market, the port which is still today the most important of the country.
Photo stop in front of the “Al Alam Palace”. This palace with a blue and gold facade, rebuilt in 1972, has become a Palace of Ceremonies.
From here you will have a view of the two forts of Jalali and Mirani built by the Portuguese in 1587 and 1588.
Then visit the "Al Zubair Museum", a private foundation which presents in a restored palace, in particular jewelry, traditional costumes, high quality objects of Omani daily life... very neat museography.
You will walk along the “corniche” of Mutrah, the other historic district of the city, then enter the largest covered souk in the country. The atmosphere is very oriental, and you will find gold and silver jewelry, many wooden sculptures, various ornaments, spices and of course incense on every corner of the streets.
